Watch the Edge, RATM’s Brad Wilk, Juliette Lewis, and Abby Travis Perform ‘Pride’ at L.A. Women’s March

U2 guitarist the Edge participated in the Los Angeles Women’s March on Jan. 21 not only by walking with the protestors, but also by offering up an energetic performance of one of his band’s most classic anthems, “Pride (In the Name of Love).”

The guitarist was joined by singer/actress Juliette Lewis, Prophets of Rage/Rage Against the Machine drummer Brad Wilk, and Go Go’s bassist Abby Travis on a temporary stage at the intersection of Sixth Street and Broadway in L.A.’s downtown area.

“When #TheEdge invites you to sing Pride and celebrate IN THE NAME OF LOVE you do it,” enthused Lewis on her Instagram account, adding video of her own as well.

Wilk, who has been dating Lewis since last year, posted a photo of the lineup on his Instagram, noting that the moment was “so surreal.”

“Pride (In the Name of Love)” is from U2’s 1984 album The Unforgettable Fire and is well-known for its lyrical content celebrating civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. U2 performed the song in 2009 for the inauguration of President Barack Obama.

The Los Angeles Women’s March was one of a series of events held in cities worldwide as a response to the inauguration of Donald Trump on Jan. 20. Many celebrities attended the Southern California demonstration, including Miley Cyrus, Jane Fonda, Barbra Streisand, Pink, and Natalie Portman.
