Two weeks ago Niall Horan surprised fans with the unexpected release of his debut solo single, "This Town." The acoustic driven ballad showcased the singer in a more stripped-down sonic landscape, with no pop-heavy hooks in sight. The single was released in company with a black and white video shot for Capitol Studio's 1 Mic 1 Take series.
In a new behind-the-scenes video about the recording of the song that was tracked in Capitol's iconic Studio A in Los Angeles, Horan discusses working with producer Don Was and the special vibe in the studio that has hosted everyone from Sam Smith to Frank Sinatra, Muse and Imagine Dragons. He says the most memorable moment, though, was that he was able to use Sinatra's old microphone while singing in "one of the most famous studios of all time."
"Anyone who knows me knows I'm a huge swing fan and a huge Frank Sinatra fan," he says. "I have photos of him all over my house, so to be in that studio -- some of the most famous pictures of Frank Sinatra have been taken in that studio -- it had a real aura about it."
