Watch Kate McKinnon Cover Leonard Cohen's “Hallelujah" on 'SNL'

Aside from A Tribe Called Quest's powerful performances, there was another pretty emotional performance that also took place on last night's episode of Saturday Night Life.

For the show's cold open, cast member Kate McKinnon once again portrayed Hillary Clinton. But instead of putting Clinton in some scripted, post-election situation, they took a completely different route. McKinnon, as Clinton, was seated at a piano on stage where she played Leonard Cohen's classic "Hallelujah." That's it. No interruptions from a Donald Trump character or any other typical SNL hijinks. Just her, the song, and our reflections on this past week.

The opening also worked as a tribute to Cohen, who passed away earlier this week at the age of 82.

After the song ended, McKinnon's Clinton looked at the camera and said "I'm not giving up, and neither should you." An important sentiment after a week like this.

Watch the timely performance above.
