Watch Broken Social Scene and Johnny Marr Perform Together in Manchester

One day after a suicide bomber attacked Ariana Grande’s concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and wounding 59, Broken Social Scene launched their European tour in that very city. They took the stage at Albert Hall with a special guest, hometown hero Johnny Marr. They performed “Anthems For a Seventeen-Year-Old Girl” from the band’s 2002 LP You Forgot It In People. “Thank you for showing up,” Kevin Drew told the crowd. “Thank you for coming out tonight. What’s most important is tonight we’re here together, all of us.” Watch their performance below (via Stereogum).
The follow-up to 2010’s excellent Forgiveness Rock Record is out July 7 via City Slang/Arts & Crafts. So far, Broken Social Scene have shared two singles. The album will feature Feist, Metric members Emily Haines and James Shaw, Stars members Amy Millan and Evan Cranley, and more. It marks the band’s first LP since announcing their hiatus over five years ago.
