Video Premiere: Dia Frampton Brings a Love Story to Life in ‘Dead Man’

The Voice Season 12 may have wrapped last night, but Dia Frampton, the runner-up from the series’ 2011 inaugural season, is as relevant, ambitious, and enchanting as ever. Now signed to Nettwerk Records, she released her confessional second solo effort, Bruises, this past March, and Yahoo Music’s Reality Rocks is thrilled to premiere the new music video from the album, “Dead Man,” the first in a two-part series directed by award-winning Korean American filmmaker Andrew Ahn.

“I’m beyond the moon to be able to share the video for ‘Dead Man,” Frampton tells Yahoo Music. “I’ve been a superfan of Andrew Ahn for a while now, and it was a dream to be able to work with him and his talented crew. He really captured the story of the song, and with the help of the talented [actor] Yoshi Sudarso, the lyrics really came to life. It’s hard, years later, to remember that pain coming out of a relationship — that emptiness where you can’t eat, can’t sleep. You don’t want to go outside. You don’t want to meet new people. ‘Dead Man’ is about the very end of something that felt like your entire world, and where to go from there.”

“When a relationship ends, we often think back to the beginning. Dia and I wanted explore the push and pull of attraction, the gravitational forces of love,” explains director Anh. “I was really excited to work with Yoshi Sudarso and Dia; there’s a lack of Asian American representation in the media, and this video is such a wonderful showcase of their talent. They create a portrait of a couple that feels human, sexy, and authentic.”
