Vampire Weekend premiered two new songs, "Everlasting Arms" and "Obvious Bicycle," from their upcoming third LP Modern Vampires of the City during a homecoming concert at New York City's Roseland Ballroom last night. The show was live streamed online and directed by Steve Buscemi, and now you can check out two high quality clips from the performance.
The steady, drifting "Obvious Bicycle" finds multi-instrumentalist Rostam Batmanglij – who calls the Modern Vampires opener one of his favorites from the band's catalogue – plucking a soft piano line around frontman Ezra Koenig's warbled pleas of "Don't wait, don't wait." The other tune, "Everlasting Arms," is just a bit more upbeat. It's a rather sparse cut with a sickly synth warbling during the verse before giving way to Chris Baio's strutting bass on the chorus.
