Tupac Biopic Gets Release Date

*All Eyez on Me* is out on the day that would have been Pac’s 46th birthday.

The forthcoming Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez on Me has a release date, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on June 16—the day that what would have been the rapper’s 46th birthday. The Benny Boom-directed movie stars Demetrius Shipp Jr. as Tupac, with Jamal Woolard playing the Notorious B.I.G. (reprising his role from the 2009 biopic Notorious). Last year, it had been revealed that the film was delayed due to a song licensing dispute. Revisit a trailer for All Eyez on Me below.

All Eyez on Me is one of several Tupac-related projects that have been announced in recent years. Among the many ventures is a TV show called “Unsolved” that will explore the police investigations behind Tupac and Biggie’s murders. Pac’s lyrics have also appeared on Sprite cans.

Later this year, Tupac will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. He is part of a class that includes Pearl Jam, Joan Baez, Journey, Electric Light Orchestra, and Yes.
