Trump Press Secretary Once Tweeted 'Daft Funk' Should 'Grow Up,' Get Rid of Helmets

By Noah Yoo.

Donald Trump’s press secretary Sean Spicer tweeted back in 2014 that he thought Daft Punk should lose the helmets, as CoS points out. Spicer, currently under fire for inaccurately insisting during a press conference that the recent inauguration had “the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration, period,” criticized the French electronic duo for their Grammy performance with Stevie Wonder, saying, “Daft Funk - this is your 10 seconds in the spotlight - u r blowing it.”

Despite getting their name incorrect, he later claimed in another tweet that he was “an early and still fan,” but thought they “need to grow up” and get rid of the helmets. Daft Punk have consistently worn their signature robot helmets in public and during performance since the release of Discovery in 2001. Find Spicer’s tweets above.
