Trailer for Tupac biopic ‘All Eyez On Me’ debuts on anniversary of rapper’s death
The 20th anniversary of Tupac Shakur's death has prompted the release of a new trailer for All Eyez On Me, the upcoming biopic of the legendary hip-hop artist's life and career. He was killed in 1996.

Legendary rapper Tupac Shakur was killed 20 years ago this week, and the anniversary of his death was marked with the release of a new trailer for the upcoming biopic about the late hip-hop artist, All Eyez On Me.

Titled in honor of Shakur’s 1996 album — widely regarded as one of the greatest rap albums of all time — All Eyez On Me casts Demetrius Shipp, Jr. as Shakur and chronicles the musician’s rise to fame, which ended in a drive-by shooting that took his life on September 13, 1996. The film is helmed by Next Day Air director Benny Boom.

The new trailer features actors portraying the real-life personalities from the music and entertainment world who populated Shakur’s musical career and all-too-brief life, including infamous music producer Suge Knight, rapper Biggie Smalls, and other well-known names and faces from the hip-hop industry.

Along with newcomer Shipp in the lead role, All Eyez On Me also stars Danai Gurira as Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, as well as Kat Graham as Jada Pinkett, Dominic L. Santana  as Suge Knight, Annie Ilonzeh as Kidada Jones, Lauren Cohan as Lelia Steinberg, Grace Gibson as Faith Evans, and Harold House Moore as Dr. Dre. Notorious star Jamal Woolard also reprises his role as Biggie Smalls, the rapper also known as The Notorious B.I.G., from that 2009 biopic of the musician.

The first trailer for All Eyez On Me was released June 16, on what would have been Shakur’s 45th birthday.

All Eyez On Me currently has no scheduled release date, but previous reports indicated it could hit theaters in November. Production on the film concluded in April.
