Taylor Swift Proves ‘Style’ is Indeed Quite Stylish (Minus Harry)

Although Taylor Swift recently all but admitted her latest single, “Style,” is a direct play on ex-boyfriend Harry Styles’s name, the video for her smoothly kinetic song doesn’t include any cameos from the One Direction star — whom she is reportedly now on friendly terms with.

It does, however, feature a mop-headed hunk that could easily be interpreted as a dopple-Harry-ganger; as well as a moody and somewhat dark treatment filled with smoke, clouds, trees, beaches, and broken mirrors.

Swift stands out in stark contrast to all the gray and black scenery, choosing a variety of all-white outfits and — of course — “that red lip, classic thing” she references in the the lyrics.

It’s a totally different direction from her last two videos, the dance-happy “Shake it Off” and tongue-in-cheek ode to insanity “Blank Space.” Additionally, she released it (after several days of teasing on Instagram) on what is a traditionally unlucky day, Friday the 13th.

However, Swifties know — oh heck, who are we kidding, the entire world knows by now — that the number 13 is actually fortuitous for Swift, who was born on that day in December.

"Style" is the third single off of Swift’s fifth album, 1989, which is currently enjoying its 11th week topping the Billboard 200 album chart.
