Take a Look at Him Now: Phil Collins Reshoots His Classic Album Covers

Phil Collins quietly launched his six-album reissue campaign in November last year, but this week, as he prepares to re-release the last two in the series, No Jacket Required and Testify, fans around the web have suddenly realized that the albums’ iconic covers look a little different. It turns out Collins had his portraits reshot by photographer Patrick Balls for these reissues, and now his 65-year-old visage – wrinkles, receding hairline, and all – graces all six new editions.

It’s a brave, vanity-free move for any aging rock star, which is probably why no veteran artist has apparently thought to do something like this – so simple, so genius – before Collins. Take a look at him now, and enjoy the memory of his face.
