Last month, Canadian pop phenom The Weeknd came out of hiding with "Starboy," his floaty new single featuring Daft Punk from his upcoming full-length album (due Nov. 25).
Days later, he premiered the visual, which included (spoiler alert!) him killing himself and emerging a new man with a haircut and a giant neon cross. "House so empty, need a centerpiece/ 20 racks a table cut from ebony" the crooner sings as he reflects on his rise to superstardom.
In the past year, The Weeknd (born Abel Tesfaye) has racked up two chart-toppers on the Billboard Hot 100 with "The Hills" and "Can't Feel My Face," not to mention delivering the platinum-selling album Beauty Behind the Madness and winning two Grammy Awards. With astronomical success, it's only right he deems himself a "starboy."
Now that mercury retrograde is out of the way, Billboard aligned with other starry-themed numbers worth revisiting below.

OneRepublic, "Counting Stars"
The Pop Songs chart-topper was an instant earworm, given the refrain: "Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep/ Dreaming about the things that we could be/ But baby, I've been, I've been praying hard/ Said no more counting dollars, we'll be counting stars."
Nicki Minaj, "Starships"
Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded (2012)
