Song Premiere: Karen & the Sorrows Debut ‘The Wire’

Queer country trailblazers Karen & the Sorrows — Karen Pittelman, Elana Redfield, and Tami Johnson — started their band in 2011 and have since built a strong following among the community of people who love country music even if country music doesn’t always love them back. They are poised to release their latest full-length album, The Narrow Place, on Aug. 25, bringing a set of songs about heartbreak and loss housed in an unabashedly country-flavored way.

Yahoo Music is excited to debut the new single “The Wire,” a dark, down-tempo ballad that shows off the band’s lonesome, twangy, and infectious sound.

“Country music can tell compelling stories about family, love, heartbreak, and strength,” says Pittelman. “Those stories should include all of our families, all of our love, and especially all of our heartbreak and our strength.”
