See It First: Seminal Ska Band the Selecter Covers Patti Smith Classic

The Selecter, one of the pioneering UK ska/reggae/2-Tone acts to rise to prominence in the late ‘70s, will be releasing their Subculture LP Stateside on October 2. Fronted by feminist vocalist Pauline Black, the band notoriously fought racism and sexism and achieved chart success on their own terms, all the while influencing a wide range of artists including Gwen Stefani and John Lennon.

Yahoo Music is excited to premiere a formerly unseen live video of the band covering Patti Smith’s classic “Because The Night”, which was also made famous by Bruce Springsteen.
