See It First: Rick Springfield Releases Lyric Video for Comedy Gem ‘If Wishes Were Fishes’

(Warning: Video contains strong language)

Fans of Rick Springfield who have been lucky enough to catch him on his acoustic Stripped Down tour are no doubt familiar with his new comedic anthem, “If Wishes Were Fishes,” a rollicking take on the absurdities of life that has quickly turned into a crowd favorite.

In the song, Springfield waxes rhapsodic about everything he’s ever decided to wish about — it’s quite a spectrum, including everything from Jesus, Clark Kent, political figures (spanning Abe Lincoln to Anthony Weiner), Scarlett Johansson, and a plea for people to stop calling him “Rick Springsteen.”

Yahoo Music is delighted to premiere the lyric video for the song, in which you can follow along with Springfield’s soliloquy. (Be forewarned, there are a few cuss words involved, so cover the children’s ears.)

Like what you hear? “If Wishes Were Fishes” can be found on Springfield’s Stripped Down Live CD/DVD set. For more info, check here.
