See It First: Go Behind the Scenes with Pat McGee and Stellar Cast of Guest Musicians

Singer-songwriter Pat McGee pulled no punches when it came to choosing guest musicians for his latest album, a self-titled set due out May 12. He assembled a core set of legendary rockers (dubbed “The Session”) including Russ Kunkel, Leland Sklar, Waddy Wachtel, Danny Kortchmar, and Jeff Pevar. Other notable musicians on this record are Little Feat’s Paul Barrere, Blues Traveler’s John Popper, Train’s Pat Monahan, and Punchbrothers’ Gabe Witcher.

Yahoo Music is excited to premiere this exclusive EPK in which McGee and his collaborators discuss the making of the record.

According to McGee himself: “This raw video footage of my recording session with future Hall Of Fame musicians, takes you deep inside the studio, allowing the viewer to share in the extremely rare experience of capturing lightning in a bottle.

"I was backed by some true legends … I feel like I now know how those iconic  classic rock albums were created. From the very first conversations about working together, these gifted musicians spoke above all, about how to lift the song the surface by playing the right part. I am so honored to have their beautiful musical landscapes, the same ones they have created for more than 40 years, on the songs that I wrote. Humbly this makes my album worthy of sliding into my vinyl collection, In this modern day era of digital music, through the visual aid of this piece.

"I hope this unapologetically analog-vibed recording warms your ears and soul & makes you appreciate how music is made: with much passion.”
