Yo La Tengo's Ira Kaplan Suffers 'Health Scare'

The indie rock trio Yo La Tengo sent a message to their fans this weekend explaining that while their annual series of Hanukkah shows at Maxwell's in Hoboken, New Jersey would go on as originally planned, the sets would be much more low-key on account of frontman Ira Kaplan suffering an unspecified "health scare" earlier this month.

"I'm going to be a little vague here, but I had a pretty serious health scare earlier this month," Kaplan wrote on the band's website. "I'm well on the way to recovery, but I've not yet been deemed ready to rock." The guitarist clarified that doctors say he needs to perform in a chair, and the shows will be "tweaked accordingly."
