New Signings: CAA Signs Pusha T, Dolly Parton Joins Sony Masterworks, Disney Music Publishing Inks Jess Cates

-- Country icon Dolly Parton signs with Sony Masterworks to release her new album, “Blue Smoke,” in New Zealand and Australia on Jan. 31. The album rollout, a partnership between Sony and the singer’s Dolly Records, will be released in the U.S. and Europe in May.
-- Universal Music Group renews its partnership with Queen. The new long-term deal will include new Queen projects, including rare and unreleased material and a film, as well as a new exhibition in Montreux, Switzerland. The agreement, which covers the world outside North America, arrives three years after Queen first signed with UMG.
-- Polo Grounds Music/RCA Records signs the Los Angeles-based hip-hop group OverDoz. The act recently opened on tour for A$AP Ferg and has released the mixtape “Boom,” which features Juicy J, Problem, Nipsey Hussle and DJ Drama, among others. Polo Ground’s roster also includes A$AP Rocky and A$AP Ferg, A$AP Mob and rapper Lantana.
-- Wind-up Records welcomes Pennsylvania band Crobot. The group is currently working with producer Machine (Lamb of God, Cobra Starship, Gym Class Heroes) on an album it plans to release in 2014.
-- Norwegian electronic duo Röyksopp joins the roster of Cherrytree Records/Interscope. In November, the group’s Svein Berge and Torbjørn Brundtland released their first single since 2011, “Running To The Sea,” on their label Dog Triumph through Cherrytree Records/Interscope.
-- Capitol Records signs singer-songwriter Mary Lambert, who recently gained notoriety for writing the hook to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' marriage-equality anthem “Same Love.” The song is nominated for a Song of the Year Grammy. Lambert, who has recently been touring with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, released her debut EP, “Welcome To The Age of My Body,” on Dec. 17. Eric Rosse produced the set.
-- Brooklyn-based indie Captured Tracks signs Perfect Pussy. The band is working on its full-length debut album, scheduled for release in early 2014.
-- Bigger Picture Group inks country artist Chelsea Bain to an exclusive worldwide recording agreement. In 2013, she performed on the Coca-Cola Stage at more than 40 NASCAR races.
-- Legendary songwriter James McMurtry joins Los Angeles-based record label Complicated Game for the release of his sixth album, the follow-up to 2008’s “Just Us Kids.” “I’ve got a new batch of songs, organic and with no added sulfites, aged in oak for several years,” McMurtry says. “Francois Moret at Complicated Game seems to like these songs and (producer) C.C. Adcock thinks he can turn them into a record.”
