Pilot Scoop: Wendi McLendon-Covey Joins Adam Goldberg's ABC Comedy

Wendi McLendon-Covey (Bridesmaids) has been cast in Adam Goldberg‘s untitled comedy pilot for ABC.

The comedic actress will play Beverly Gold, an overbearing, hyper-emotional shopaholic with no sense of boundaries and a big mouth. Nonetheless, she’s a very dedicated mom.

The ’80s-set potential series is inspired by Goldberg’s experiences growing up in a hectic, but loving, family.

McLendon-Covey originally was cast in King of Van Nuys, another ABC comedy pilot that was an adaptation of the BBC’s Only Fools and Horses. The Alphabet Net passed on that project in December.

The actress — one of TVLine’s most wanted properties this pilot season — also is gearing up for another go as Modern Family’s lesbian woodworker Pam and a return to CBS’ Rules of Engagement later this season.
