Paul Simon Takes on 'The Boxer' Live – Premiere
Twelve studio albums packed with hundreds of songs covering a stunning six decade career in music – that's what you'll find in the new Paul Simon anthology, The Complete Albums Collection, which was released last week by Legacy Recordings. Tracing Simon's remarkable solo career starting with 1965's The Paul Simon Songbook – an acoustic record that included a number of songs that he would make famous with Art Garfunkel – up through 2011's So Beautiful or So What, the set also includes two full-length live concert recordings.
Now you can take an exclusive first look at a live clip of Simon performing his beloved folk ballad, "The Boxer" in Paris during the tour behind his 2004 record, You're the One. For a song he's undoubtedly performed thousands of times, Simon still makes it shine with his nimble fingerpcking and soft, almost detached coo of a voice – he even cracks a smile when a few fans hoot and holler after our lonesome, struggling narrator can't get a job offer, "just a come-on from the whores on Seventh Avenue."
