fun. performed in San Francisco on May 31 as part of the Yahoo! On the Road tour.
Not many bands that employ a trumpet and a flugelhorn in their music manage to break into the mainstream, but with the album Some Nights surpassing $10 million in sales, fun. is pioneering what’s popular in music.
The band members are Nate Ruess, vocals; Andrew Dost, bass guitar and trumpet; and Jack Antonoff, lead guitar and drums. The three met while on tour with different indie bands. After Ruess’s first band broke up he asked Dost and Antonoff to join him on a new project.
fun. continued to break music records at the 55th annual Grammy Awards, where they were the first rock band to receive nominations in all “Big Four” categories and took home two Grammys for Best New Artist and Song of the Year for "We Are Young."
