Kid Rock Supports Paul Ryan at Campaign Fundraiser

Paul Ryan may have been burned by both Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello and Dee Snider of Twisted Sister, but the Republican vice presidential candidate received a bit of that coveted rock n' roller support on Friday from Kid Rock, ABC News reports.

The Michigan native, Romney supporter, and author of the GOP campaign's theme song, "Born Free" joined Ryan onstage for a fundraiser at the Oakland Hills Country Club in Romney's hometown outside Detroit.

"I was going to come out, be a little wisenheimer and say, 'Guess which one is running for vice president?'" Kid Rock told the crowd of 160 people, who had each paid at least $500 to attend the event. "And then, they would introduce Paul and I would walk out and say hello."

Ryan responded, "So one of us is running for vice president, but only one of us listened to ‘Bawitdaba’ on the way over here in the motorcade with the Secret Service."

Ryan went on to praise Rock's career as he held the musician up as a model of American ingenuity. "We don’t resent people for being successful in this country," he said. "Look at this creator right here – the fruit of his labor coming from his mind, his talents. He took his path to find his happiness, and he is realizing his dreams and he is paving his way. Only in America can you do this. That is what this country is all about."

Kid Rock threw his support behind the Republican presidential pick when he performed at a Romney rally in Michigan during that state's primary. He will be playing at the Republican National Convention in Tampa next week, along with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Trace Adkins and Journey.
