Kanye West to Perform at MTV’s Video Music Awards

Kanye West is returning to the MTV Video Music Awards.

The network confirmed today via social media that the provocative musician will perform “BLKKK SKKKN HEAD” August 25 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center for their annual award show, effectively tying Madonna as the artist with the most VMA performances.

West, whose album “Yeezus” had lukewarm sales when it dropped June, famously interrupted Taylor Swift’s 2009 VMAs acceptance speech for best female video winner by saying “Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you. Imma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time … one of the best videos of all time!” He returned the next year to perform his single “Runaway.”

Other artists taking the stage at this year’s awards include Lady Gaga, who will perform her soon-to-be-released single, “Applause.”.
