Gogol Bordello Go Behind the Scenes of 'Pura Vida Conspiracy'
Ahead of the July 23rd release of Gogol Bordello's hotly anticipated sixth album, Pura Vida Conspiracy, the gypsy-punk collective is offering a glimpse at the project's creation. In this exclusive video chronicle of the group's studio time at the Sonic Ranch in Texas, frontman Eugene Hütz shares the album's overall message: "Borders are scars on the face of the planet."
Hütz tells Rolling Stone that the disc's opening missive, "We Rise Again," is its "theme-defining song." "Whenever something fantastic happens, we don't look down, we don't look north or south, we rise our eyes to the sky," he says. "[There's] something cosmic and uplifting that unites us all. . . We rise again!"
Gogol Bordello are currently bringing their self-professed "volcano of music" to European festival audiences. They will embark on a run of American theater and outdoor gigs on July 20th at the Green River Festival in Greenfield, Massachusetts.
