Fox Pilot ‘The List’ Tweaks Cast: Tasmin Egerton Switches Roles, Hilarie Burton Joins

EXCLUSIVE: Fox and 20th TV have put the finishing touches on the cast for drama pilot The List with some changes. Tamsin Egerton (Camelot), originally cast as Maddie Soto, will now play Delilah, a role for which Charity Wakefield had been originally set. One Tree Hill alumna Hilarie Burton has now been cast as Maddie, replacing Egerton. The List, from Paul Zbyszewski and Ruben Fleischer, centers on the intense Deputy U.S. Marshal Soto (Michael Peña) who, when members of the Federal Witness Security Program start getting killed, leads the hunt for the person who stole “the list” – a file with the identities of every member of the program.

As it has happened a number of times this season on pilots featuring large ensembles, Wakefield was one of the first two actors cast in The List a month ago when the lead was still called Dan Shaker and his ex-wife Maddie Shaker before Peña came on board to star. Throughout the casting process, characters change directions with every new addition, and a month later, The List producers felt Egerton was better suited for what the Delilah character had evolved into. Delilah is described as a mysterious woman and a “conniving charmer,” a deadly international operator who prides herself on never leaving a “client” unsatisfied. Soto’s ex-wife Maddie is the mother of his two kids, an attractive psychologist. Egerton is with WME and Anonymous; Burton, who has been recurring on USA’s White Collar, is with Principal Entertainment.
