Band to Watch: Alpine
Australian co-ed alt-pop band Alpine serves up an exciting new clip for "Hands," one of several stand-out tracks on the group's debut album, A is for Alpine. The video – the second by the band for the song – was shot live on drummer Phil Tucker's GoPro during recent performances down under and during last month's U.S. tour with Crystal Fighters.
The outfit's airy vocals – courtesy of Phoebe Baker and Lou James – and pristine harmonizing have earned Alpine global acclaim and gigs with everyone from Grouplove and The Naked And Famous to Kimbra and Sia. Nominated for two ARIAs (Australia's Grammys), the sextet also holds the distinction of being named iTunes' Australian Alternative Album of the Year for 2012.
Alpine's goal for A is for Alpine, which has also spawned singles/videos in Australia for "Villages," "Seeing Red," and "Gasoline," was to display its many facets. "We wanted to represent the different sides of our music, so there's some sad moments, some dancey moments, some rocking out and lots of harmonies," says bassist Ryan Lamb.
