'The Host' Heartthrob Max Irons Goes Royal in Starz's 'The White Queen' [Video]

Hollywood's newest hunk plays King Edward IV in the sexy new historical drama.

Max Irons is wasting no time conquering both the big and small screens.

The 27-year-old rising star made audiences swoon in this past weekend's "The Host," a movie based on "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyers's novel. And this summer, he'll do the same as hot-blooded King Edward IV in Starz's sexy new drama, "The White Queen."

Irons is following in the historical-minded footsteps of his father, Oscar winner Jeremy Irons. Like his dad, who stars in Showtime's "The Borgias," the younger actor will be tackling a famous real-life figure.

"The White Queen" is based on Philippa Gregory's best-selling novel series "The War of the Roses," and depicts the battles and political intrigue between the House of York and the House of Lancaster. York's young, sexy Edward is seeking to consolidate power and solidify his claim on England's throne, but things get dangerously complicated when he falls for Elizabeth Woodville (Rebecca Ferguson), a Lancastrian commoner.

"I'm mad for you," he breathlessly whispers to her. "While I'm king of England, no one shall stop me."

He can only hope.

"The White Queen" is set to premiere on Starz this August.
