SXSW 2017 is officially a wrap. While there were plenty of great moments during the week in Austin, few of them compared to the Roots' showcase on Saturday night, which was put together with Bud Light. The star-studded evening not only featured a set from the legendary band, but included the group playing background for a number of artists.
The insane setlist included Rae Sremmurd, Nick Grant, Brandy, T.I., Method Man and Redman, and more. The evening also included a surprise appearance from De La Soul, which turned the passionate crowd up another level. If all of that wasn't enough, in a Chuck Berry tribute during their set with a special performance of "Johnny B. Goode." Berry passed away on Saturday at the age of 90.
If nothing else, the night showcased just how great The Roots are as a group group, the depth of their industry friendships and who they can call on to jam with. The night also showed how much versatility they've built upon over the years. Fans were in for a treat throughout the night and the band delivered in tenfold.
