On September 3rd, Universal Music will release a brand new Rod Stewart collection, Rarities, a two-disc set packed with alternative versions of hit songs, non-LP singles, b-sides, studio outtakes, covers (including his takes on the Who's "Pinball Wizard" and Bob Dylan's "Girl From the North Country") and Stewart's previously unreleased performances on BBC Radio One, which yielded this version of "Maggie May."
Faces guitarist Ronnie Wood translates the song's famous mandolin break into a ragged guitar line on a blistering performance as the distorted guitars and Stewart's gravelly wait crash around teh studio space, and all without losing an ounce of sweetness.
