"I wrote the lyrics for 'Psalms' on a napkin while I was waiting for my mom to pick me up from SFO. I had been on this big St. Francis of Assisi kick around that time and that sort of liturgical tone crept into the lyrics, and subsequently, the title," Heliotropes' Jessica Numsuwankijkul tells Rolling Stone. "I had the great misfortune of attending Catholic school for many years and always had a fixation on him because his writing was ostensibly about God, but really seemed more romantic in nature, as if he were writing about someone he were in love with."
