Welcome to the new episode of the Billboard.com Pop Shop Podcast, Billboard's weekly audio breakdown of the Billboard charts, hottest music news and year's biggest musical events. Casual pop fans and chart junkies can hear Billboard co-director of charts Keith Caulfield and Billboard.com senior editor Katie Atkinson every Tuesday on the Pop Shop Podcast, which can be streamed on Billboard.com or downloaded in iTunes (click here to listen to the previous episode on Billboard.com).
On this week's show, we have two very special guests: the fabulous Kristin Chenoweth and Bright Light Bright Light!
Chenoweth you know, of course, from Wicked on Broadway and TV's Pushing Daisies and Glee -- and she's just an all-around razzle-dazzle entertainer. We spoke to her about her brand-new jazzy pop standards album called The Art of Elegance (which recently debuted at No. 1 on the Jazz Albums chart), her return to Broadway in her upcoming one-woman show, and lots more. (And we also find out she's a fan of Drake -- who knew?)
Plus, Bright Light Bright Light -- aka singer/songwriter Rod Thomas -- came by and visited us in our Los Angeles office. His new album Choreography became his first charting album on the Billboard charts, and it features a bevy of special guests, including Elton John and all of the members of Scissor Sisters, so stick around for our chat with him too!
In addition to our special guests, we also have chart chat about Solange debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with A Seat at the Table and more!
