Music of 'The O.C.': Bands That Rocked the Bait Shop

On May 4 at 7:30 p.m. PT/10:30 p.m. ET, Yahoo Live will live stream Death Cab for Cutie's concert from the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee. Tune in HERE to watch!

As the music world celebrates the return of Death Cab for Cutie after a four-year break, we're marking a bigger milestone: the decade since the band's Bait Shop debut. Remember the Bait Shop? One of the best concert venues that never was.

The fictional music club from Fox's The O.C. was actually a bit of a star-making machine. From its start in 2003, the series was committed to showcasing new music by indie and major acts. The Killers, Rachael Yamagata, the Shins, Beck, and others debuted new singles on the show. But in Season 2, the Bait Shop opened its TV doors and brought in bands to play live. Say what you will about the drama itself — we need more shows like The O.C. that are committed to putting bands on camera as well as on the soundtrack.

So in honor of Seth Cohen's favorite band, here's a little Bait Shop blast from the past: the complete list of very real bands to grace the fake O.C. club stage. May it inspire you to make your own Chrismukkah playlist. —Shawn Amos
