Jenni Rivera, Mexican Singer, 43, airplane crash, 12/9/12: Jenni Rivera’s disposition as a strong, independent woman was evident in her music and helped her rise among the ranks of the male-dominated banda sub-genre of Mexican music to earn the title “La Diva de la Banda.” Her appeal helped her sell 15 million albums and land TV shows including I Love Jenni, Jenni Rivera Presents: Chiquis & Raq-C and The Voice Mexico.
Inevitably, every year we lose some of our most talented and/or famous music people. Let us pay tribute to those who have left the building. There are many more than those listed here.
