People Are Worried About Former NBA Star Delonte West After He Is Spotted Barefoot
Nowadays, it’s no shocker to see a celebrity – especially athletes – rise to fame and then fall into debt, substance abuse, or depression. We’ve seen it with a number of basketball players over the years. And unfortunately it seems that Delonte West may be spiraling in that downward direction. The eight-year NBA vet was seen loitering around a Jack In The Box parking lot in a hospital robe and without his shoes.
The photo that has been floating around the Internet was captured by an anonymous Instagram user who mentioned that West’s slurred commentary matched his disheveled look, TMZ reports. According to the site, the user approached West asking if he was in fact the, 32-year-old baller. “I used to be, but I’m not about that life anymore,” he responded. After being asked what happened, West replied with a simple explanation: “life.”
West’s eight-year NBA career ended in 2012 though he had many highlights, playing in over 400 games and finishing with more than 4,000 points on the board. During his career, he reportedly made $16 million as a player for the Boston, Seattle, Cleveland, and Dallas teams.
His off-the-court life happened to be more troubled and often caused complications for him during his career. One of the biggest rumors followed his diagnosis for bipolar disorder in 2008. He was rumored to have slept with Lebron James’ mother during his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He’s denied that rumor however.
The newest news doesn’t seem to be much of a surprise to former fans who first caught a glimpse of West’s downward spiral when he tweeted, “It’s official, Pride 2 the side. just filled out application at Home Depot. Lockout aint a game.” He also tweeted the application, but deleted it quickly after.
Hopefully Delonte West can get the help he needs.
