One of the greatest things to ever happen to after-school programming was Carson Daly and MTV's Total Request Live. Oh, what a beautiful hour that was, full of glorious music videos, live performances, and more than the occasional surprise guest appearance.
TRL had four years of absolute gold before Daly left to pursue jobs that didn't allow a young man to rock black nail polish (I still love you, Carson), and it ran another six years with a variety of hosts before finally kicking the bucket. MTV got real dark with a bunch of reality TV shows, but today, it realizes music is the central theme it needs.

Enter Wonderland, the new TRL-esque program that brings music to the forefront by once again inviting musicians to premiere new music and perform live. Guests have included Tinashe, Ty Dolla $ign, and Mac Miller. Thursday, though, Wonderland gets even better, because Steve Aoki isn't just a guest. He's taking over the driver's seat.
The Dim Mak label head and dance music superstar will share tons of jams he and his friends have made through the years. He's also bringing close homies Blink 182, Lil Jon, Makonnen, Rich The Kid, and more to the stage. The whole thing will be broadcasted live in downtown LA, as Wonderland usually is, and anyone 18 and older who wants to get down and party is invited. The taping is free with rsvp.
