A rare early Radiohead demo is headed to auction this September, and it's a particularly special one: it dates back to 1986, when the band was still known as On a Friday. The nine-track cassette includes songs that have never been seen on official Radiohead releases, according to NME, though some of the tunes have surfaced online.
"It has come directly from an old friend of the band who was at school with them at Abingdon School," auctioneer Paul Fairweather said. "We have copies of his school yearbook from 1985/1986 showing him and all four members of the band." (Radiohead started as a quartet before guitarist Jonny Greenwood joined the band.)
The demo features the tracks "Fragile Friend," "Girl (In the Purple Dress)," "Everybody Knows," "Mountains (On the Move)," "Lemming Trail" and "Lock the Door," we well as remixes of "Fragile Friend," "Lemming Trail," and "Lock the Door."
The auction will begin September 14th at Omega Auctions in Stockport, England. Fairweather expects the demo to go for at least £1,000 (about $1,500).
