Premiere: Allison Iraheta's Halo Circus Unveil Video for Duran Duran Cover 'Do You Believe in Shame?'

Last year, former American Idol darling Allison Iraheta’s stellar rock band with her husband Matthew Hager, Halo Circus, contributed a fiery version of Duran Duran’s underrated 1989 Big Thing single “Do You Believe in Shame?” to Manimal Vinyl’s compilation Making Patterns Rhyme: A Tribute to Duran Duran. A Gothic, operatic, almost heavy-metal spin on Duran’s funk-pop ballad, Halo Circus’s cover was an instant standout on an indie all-star album that also included tracks by Moby, Warpaint, and Carina Round.

And now, finally, the long-under-wraps video for Halo Circus’s “Do You Believe in Shame?” has been released – and it’s premiering right here on Yahoo Music’s Reality Rocks.

The music video’s dazzling concept was conceived and executed by RAPP LA, in partnership with Mazik Self’s Self Aviary, under the creative guidance of RAPP Executive Creative Director Nick Platt.

“Director Mazik Self’s idea for the video was based on his sense that Halo Circus has created our own little weird world, so his intention was to recreate it onscreen,” Iraheta tells Yahoo Music. “Playing off of the Halo Circus rabbit logo, the viewer follows us down the rabbit hole to get a glimpse of our lives as a band. The song is our dark take on one of Duran Duran’s most beautiful and haunting tracks, and it’s a great introduction to the sound of our forthcoming debut album.”

Halo Circus’s ties to Duran Duran are strong. Iraheta has recorded music for Skaist-Taylor (the fashion line co-founded by Duran bassist John Taylor’s wife, Gela Nash-Taylor); Hager worked on the Duran albums Red Carpet Massacre and All You Need Is Now as well as on John Taylor’s solo material; and Halo Circus’s 2013 original song ”Something Special“ was co-written by John Taylor.
