Katy Perry ditched the boxing ring and returned to the jungle for her first set on Saturday Night Live last night. Recreating the visuals from her "Roar" video, Perry performed the song on a stage filled with lush tropical foliage, with backing band and singers all dressed in animal costumes.
For the thumping new dance track "Walking On Air," which dropped just over a week ago, Perry stripped back the stage setting to highlight the choreography, trading the jungle for a few fan-blown sheets of metallic fabric. Taking a cue from the Nineties-retro house beats of the song, Perry belted out the song dressed in a plaid mini skirt and white go-go boots, surrounded by a troupe of white-clad dancers.
Both of the night's selections are from Perry's forthcoming new album, Prism, which is due out on October 22nd.
