The past might look pretty nice when the stakes are as high as they are in the new video for "Used To Have It All," from Fais and Afrojack. Starring actress-model Emily Sears, the video brings a darker undertone to the club-ready track, with enough twists and jaw-dropping shots to fill an entire feature film.
The action-packed video matches the thrilling Afrojack production and Fais' arena-ready vocals. Directed by Jon Jon Augustavo, the mind behind Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Thrift Shop" and "Same Love," the video was influenced by crime dramas Breaking Bad and No Country for Old Men. The inspiration is clear with a healthy mix of wide, scenic shots, excessive gun-toting, and late-night neon lights. Augustavo outdoes the typical Coen Brothers homage by casting Sears, who is absolutely scorching as the video's badass heroine and secret weapon.
This track marks the second collaboration between the childhood friends following the smash "Hey" from earlier this year. Whereas "Hey" was a fun getaway song, "Used To Have It All" shows the pair finding more soulful vibes.
"It is always a pleasure to work with talented artists, and co-writing and producing 'Used to Have It All' with Fais was certainly one of my top experiences this year," Afrojack tells Billboard. "Watch this kid grow!"
Although Fais might focus on good times of the past, it's clear that his future will be even brighter. Check out the video for "Used To Have It All" below.
