Drake is taking his love for his hometown to the next level: he's signed on with the NBA's Toronto Raptors as a "global ambassador."
The Canadian rapper will be in charge of launching a Raptors clothing line, as well as consulting on a redesign of the team's appearance as part of its 20th anniversary in the 2014-2015 season, the Toronto Star reports. He'll also act as a host for the team – and they have some high-profile events on the horizon, including hosting the 2016 NBA All-Star Game.
The Raptors hope Drake will give them a publicity boost as they rebrand their team, not unlike how Jay Z's presence elevated the Brooklyn Nets as they moved from New Jersey to New York. Jay Z, however, recently sold his stake in the Nets and the Barclays Center when he launched the sports management arm of Roc Nation.
