New this week: Camila Cabello, BØRNS, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and more

Searching for something to listen to this weekend? Yahoo Music has you covered with a rundown of some of this week’s biggest and buzzing releases, from artists including Camila Cabello, BØRNS, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and more. Check back every Friday for a fresh list of albums to help fuel your weekend playlists.

Camila Cabello: Camila (Syco Music/Epic). The former Fifth Harmony member is no stranger to pop stardom, but on her debut solo album, she takes things to a new level by making it extraordinarily tailored to her own strengths. The Cuban-born, Miami-bred singer blends Spanish and English effortlessly, resulting in a warm-feeling set overall.

BØRNS: Blue Madonna (Interscope). Garrett Clark Borns moves and grooves on his latest pop-oriented release, with the shining guest moment being an assist from Lana Del Rey on the floaty “God Save Our Young Blood.”

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club: Wrong Creatures (Vagrant). This marks the San Francisco garage standout’s first album in five years. It’s a shaking, shuddering wall of sound that should satisfy anyone looking for a good dose of plain ol’ rock ’n’ roll.

Anderson East: Encore (Low Country Sound/Elektra). East has been in the news for some time as the boyfriend of Grammy-winning superstar Miranda Lambert, but that glam designation hasn’t taken away from his sheer talent holding its own in the Nashville realm. This is his second major-label release, including co-writes from Ed Sheeran and Chris and Morgane Stapleton.

Joe Satriani: What Happens Next (Legacy Recordings). The 16th solo release from the guitar virtuoso features bassist Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple/Black Country Communion) and the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer Chad Smith, the latter reuniting with Satriani for the first time since their work in the supergroup Chickenfoot.

Black Veil Brides: Vale (Lava Music/Republic). Need your dose of black glittery glam? Here you go, but one thing to note — the band goes a little more pop on this record than might be expected. It’s still fast-paced as heck, and will get your heart pumping, however.

Petula Clark: Living for Today (BMG Rights Management). Clark’s career spans seven decades, and this album explores some of the highlights of that span, including covers of songs by such artists as the Beatles, Steve Winwood, and Peggy Lee. She adds original tunes to round out the release.

Tinsley Ellis: Winning Hand (Alligator). Southern blues-rock guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Ellis delivers nine original songs (plus one Leon Russell cover) on his latest set. Those who like guitar are in for a treat here, as it’s all about that and his particular skills.

Umphrey’s McGee: It’s Not Us (Nothing Too Fancy Music). The jam band is celebrating its 20th anniversary with its 11th release, which spit-polishes their flexible sound by traversing a variety of genres (and, despite the title, all the while still sounding like their classic selves).

Various artists: Dr. Demento Covered in Punk (Caf Muzeck/MRI). The Dr. Demento Show has been providing weird and wacky music to the masses for nearly five decades; this compilation focuses on some of punk’s most iconic songs as covered on the show. The Misfits, Joan Jett, Fred Schneider, Weird Al Yankovic, and the late Adam West all help out here.

John Williams: The Post (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) (Sony Masterworks). Williams added his incomparable musical touch to the Steven Spielberg film about the controversial release of the Pentagon Papers, starring Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks.

Various artists: 2018 Grammy Nominees (RCA). Those looking for a nice sampling of last year’s best and brightest will do well to check out this collection of 21 songs, including Album of the Year nominees Childish Gambino, Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Lorde, and Bruno Mars.
