Oct. 13 -- SAP is one of the world’s largest business software companies. Bill McDermott became the CEO of SAP in 2010, and has since doubled the company's market cap to $100 billion. In the summer of 2015, he faced the greatest test of his life. McDermott fell down a set of stairs, his face landing on the glass of water he had in his hands. He would lose his eye, and nearly his life, but never his resolve. According to McDermott, his company’s prized possession is HANA, an in-memory database that processes massive amounts of real-time data in seconds, and McDermott says it's what is giving him the edge against competitors like Oracle and Salesforce.
