Most Viewed K-Pop Videos in America, Around the World: October 2016

Billboard

This October was probably one of YouTube's most heated months when it came to K-pop acts scoring views. Both the first and second place videos earned a huge amount of clicks, but in the end, BTS topped Twice's numbers as last month's top-viewed K-pop video.

YouTube reports that "Blood, Sweat & Tears" was both the most-viewed K-pop video in America and around the world for October 2016. K-pop media took notice of how fast the boy band was racking up such big numbers with this month's runner-up, "TT" by Twice, also mentioned for its rapidly growing view count. As of publication on Nov. 14, "TT" actually has more views (50.9 million since its Oct. 23 premiere) than "Blood, Sweat & Tears" (50.2 million since its Oct. 9 reveal), but the cutoff date had BTS ahead.

Twice shouldn't be upset as the YouTube numbers further indicate huge interest in the girl group as a promotional music video the ninesome filmed for Lotte Duty Free even bows at No. 7 on the global chart.

Moving down the chart, girl group I.O.I takes third place on both charts with "Very Very Very," but the rankings start to shake up afterwards.

The members of EXO are going head-to-head this month. Their first sub-unit featuring Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin on "Hey Mama!" (No. 6 in America, but No. 4 globally) competes against two solo videos from Lay recorded in Chinese ("What U Need" is No. 4 in America and No. 5 globally while "Lose Control" bows at No. 8 and 9 on the respective charts). The numbers could indicate a high American interest in Lay, particularly.

Meanwhile, the U.S. continues to show its penchant for boy bands as SHINee is No. 5, plus newcomers Pentagon and Monsta X charting in the Top 10. Don't count out Ailee though, as the K-diva winds up with impressive numbers across the board as "Home" is No. 7 in America and No. 10 globally, with the New Jersey singer's home country showing big support for her latest visual.
