Miranda Lambert Has Rosy Outlook for 2017 CMT Awards

The 2017 CMT Awards, set to air June 7 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, are famous for showcasing a variety of unexpected artist duets and collaborations from all genres of music. However, according to Miranda Lambert, who’s up for a couple of awards – including the prestigious Video of the Year – this show is, at heart, all about the country.

“It’s kind of like a reunion. Everybody’s here this week to celebrate country music,” said Lambert during a break backstage rehearsing for the show. True to their country roots: “The CMTs are loud and fun as you can tell, but they are definitely more laid back than any other awards show.”

Lambert is all about celebrating the relaxed and playful vibe of the awards show this year. “I’m doing something fun this time,” she noted of her scheduled performance. “I’ve been doing ‘Pink Sunglasses’ on the road, and I’ve been loving it.

“It feels like summer, and festive, and perfect for CMA week,” she related, referring to the Nashville fan fair and festival hosted by the Country Music Association every June.

This particular June, Lambert’s fans will be seeing things through rosy glasses – literally. “They handed out like a thousand pairs of pink sunglasses,” enthused Lambert. “I’m excited.” Hopefully some of these specs will find their way into the crowds watching the CMT Awards at Nashville’s Music City Center!
