After a tumultuous week or so of daytime drama, Michael Strahan opened up about his imminent departure from Live.

At the Met Gala, the ever dapper former NFL star told Entertainment Tonight that despite all the noise, “Every day is great for me.”

“I’m on the other side of the dirt,” the 44-year-old added. #Humblebrag.

“Yeah, I’m looking forward to [moving to GMA full-time],” Strahan continued. “But I’m still looking forward to going to work for Live…I love being there. I still love it. It’s a great show, great people, and I’m very fortunate to be a part of it.” Nice, Michael.

He also took a moment to stick up for his co-host, Kelly, who has gotten somewhat of a diva rep after she took a tiny sabbatical from work following the news that she’d be losing her work husband.

Strahan says everyone “got the wrong impression” of what went down when Kelly was finally told that Michael was leaving.

Reports suggested that Kelly felt blindsided but she cleared the air on her first day back to the show, saying, “What transpired, though, over the course of a few days has been extraordinary in the sense that it started a much greater conversation about communication and consideration and, most importantly, respect in the workplace.”

Michael’s last day on Live will be Friday, May 13. Hopefully he’s not superstitious.
