Meghan Trainor and Charlie Puth's ‘Marvin Gaye’ Make Out Session Shocks Fans

“Are Meghan Trainor and Charlie Puth dating?” is the question many asked after the “Marvin Gaye” singers engaged in a long, sloppy kiss at the end of their American Music Awards performance Sunday.

After singing their duet “Marvin Gaye” – that includes the lyric “let’s Marvin Gaye and get it on” – the duo did just that. When they approached each other each to kiss as they do at the end of the song’s video, they continued into a full on make out session that left viewers in the auditorium and online in shock.

The kiss continued even after the broadcast went to commercial, according to a Yahoo Music editor in attendance at the event.

Naturally, rumors are swirling about the duo, but a spokesperson for Trainor tells Yahoo Music that the singers are just friends. Could they be friends with benefits?

When making the video earlier this year, Trainor and Puth discussed what it was like to stage the kiss. Trainor described it as awkward.

“There were like, 40 people there and his parents were in the green room and we had to make out a bunch of time,” she told MTV, while adding at the time that they were not in a romantic relationship.

Puth, on the other hand, described Trainor as a “good kisser.” “I knew it wouldn’t be any probem there or anything like that,” he also told MTV. “I have no problem kissing people in front of other people, but my parents, I’m like, that’s a doozy.”
