One week after releasing "Green Light," her first new single in three years, Lorde is back again with her follow-up track "Liability." The song reached No. 1 on the Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart around 2 p.m. ET Thursday (March 9) shortly after it was released.

The track is the second offering from her forthcoming second studio album Melodrama, which she said will be released June 16.

"Green Light" also led the Trending 140 chart after its release last Thursday (March 3). The song debuted at No. 100 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated March 18, and is expected to make a big jump up the tally next week, after a full week of streaming, sales and airplay activity has been registered.
The singer announced "Liability" on Twitter, writing "I wanted you to have a new song from Melodrama, a new chapter of the story." She is scheduled to perform on NBC's Saturday Night Live this weekend (March 11).
