Lorde’s Uber Driver Was Starstruck, But Not By Her

Many celebrities don’t seem to like being recognized when they’re going about their day, but we rarely hear about the times that they don’t get recognized at all. Yesterday, Lorde took to Twitter to share a funny anecdote about her recent Uber ride. Apparently, her Uber driver had picked up an unnamed “celebrity passenger” right before they picked up Lorde, and they were noticeably starstruck by their previous passenger.
Lorde wasn’t alone in not being recognized by her Uber driver; Ellie Goulding shared a similar story about how her driver had someone from her own band in the car prior to her, but said that he didn’t like Ellie Goulding’s music.
Lorde’s fans responded accordingly to the hilarious tweets (one thought that Lorde’s tweets were lyrics to new music), but New Zealand’s Uber had the best response.
Beyond 2015’s collaborative track with Disclosure, Lorde has been fairly quiet. It does appear, however, that she’s been working on her sophomore album.
According to what Lorde recently told BBC, the follow-up to her excellent debut album Pure Heroine will feature a shift in tone and style. She also responded to one of her fans, who told Lorde via Twitter to stop tweeting about her driver because she has an album to finish, that she was actually on her way to the studio.
