Boathouse is a Chicago-based producer and member of the Closed Sessions collective. You may be more familiar with his work than you realize, as he’s the one who engineered the Chance The Rapper and Lil B Based Freestyle mixtape from 2015. Beyond producing on tracks, Boathouse also released an instrumental EP, Girl, at the tail end of last year.

To follow Girl and premiered via This Song is Sick earlier today, we now have a new EP from Boathouse that features the likes of Allan Kingdom, Drea Smith of Pyyramids, and others. On Hibernation, Boathouse creates an atmospheric soundscape across the span of four songs and demonstrates that he knows which artists have the ability to complement that soundscape.

Here’s what Boathouse has to say about the EP:

Hibernation is inspired by the season and the feeling of being inside when it is cold outside. When it comes to making music, I find myself wanting to leave the creative space less and less when the weather gets cold. I’m sure I’m not alone, so whatever you choose to do with your time of hibernation for the remainder of the winter, I hope this EP becomes a part of your soundtrack.
