On his new song, Carter Reeves speaks for everyone who's ever tried to forget an ex but somehow manages to run into them, even in a big city. The groovy track, "Talk To Me," is premiering exclusively on Billboard today (March 7).
Reeves tells the relatable story of enjoying a night out with friends and running into none other than the ex you can't help but still want. Reeves drops lines like "The second I walked in, man/ Guess who I saw/ The one that I hoped I wouldn't come across/ Still using other guys to get drinks at the bar." The lyrics flow perfectly over the track.
Reeves still manages to make the track infectious and uplifting, despite the somewhat unfortunate narrative. "Everyone's got that certain someone where the relationship may have died out, but the magnetic attraction hasn't." Reeves tells Billboard. He continues, "I wrote this track about that feeling after running into my ex by chance. Oh, how I wanted to curve her, but naturally we couldn't fight the urge to reintroduce ourselves."
